This year at DynamicsCon 2026 I have the honor of hosting the first ever DyCon Hackathon (still work shopping the name). This is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I asked Bobby Small if I could and he said “yes”. This is going to be the first, and you are not going to want to miss it!
For those who have never participated in a Hackathon. A Hackathon is basically a creative sprint where people come together to build something new in a short burst of focused energy. Think of it as a mix between a workshop, a team challenge, and a playground for ideas.
What it feels like
- You join a team (or form one on the spot).
- You pick a problem or idea you want to explore.
- You spend a few hours experimenting, building, testing, and learning.
- At the end, you share what you created, no matter how polished or scrappy it is.
What it’s not
- It’s not a competition about who’s the smartest.
- It’s not only for hardcore developers.
- It’s not about perfection.
Why people love them
- You get hands‑on experience with tools and ideas you might not normally try.
- You collaborate with people who think differently than you.
- You learn fast because you’re building instead of just listening.
- You walk away with something you made—an idea, a prototype, a spark.
For first‑timers, the magic is realizing that you don’t need to know everything. You just need curiosity, a willingness to try things, and a team that’s excited to explore alongside you. It’s a low‑pressure, high‑energy environment where learning happens naturally and creativity tends to surprise you.
Who is this open to?
- Pro Coders of all experience levels
- Low Coders in Power Platform, Copilot Studio, or any other platform
- Vibe Coders, use AI to advance AI!
- Microsoft MVPs and other Professionals that want to coach teams.

Questions and Answers
Is there a general theme?
We are going with “Business Central AI”, but the field is wide open from there. AI inside BC, AI feeding BC, AI around BC, it is all fair game. Any tool, any technology. It can be assistive, an agent, AI powered workflow.
Hackathons do have a bit of competition in them. Are there going to be prizes?
Yes!
If you are interested in sponsoring a prize let me know.
Are you looking for Judges?
Yes!
If you feel like you would be a good fit, let me know.
I would like to be a mentor/team coach.
That is more of a statement than a question, but yes, you can be a mentor or team coach, just reach out to me and let me know.
Why are you doing this?
I’ve really enjoyed DynamicsCon, but I’ve always felt that there were events for partners, vendors, salespeople, but nothing spoke to the nerd in me. I wanted a social event that brought my fellow nerds together and gave us a challenge to do as a group. I wanted an event where we could let our geek flags fly!
If you’re heading to DynamicsCon in Las Vegas—or even just wondering how to level up your technical skills while you’re there—join me for the BC AI Hackathon!
